I am Not Ashamed There is a song that proudly proclaims that we are not ashamed of the Gospel or His name. Those are words that we, as children of God, should live by. Yet it would seem, as Satan continually pushes against the Church by means of the secular world, that many who profess Christ as Lord give the appearance that they no longer live by those words. I was shocked last night as I watched a National News Channel as they interviewed a very prominent and well know, respected man of God out of California. When this man was posed with the question of why he supported the ban on Gay Marriage in California, his answer for opposing gay marriage was not that the Bible states in Leviticus 18:22 and Leviticus 20:13 that homosexuality is a sin and an abomination before God but rather his reason for opposing the ban was that the marriage union for 5000 years has been defined as a union between a man and a woman and saw no reason to change it as such. He went on to explain how as a Christian man he loved all people and respected that they had a right to choose their lifestyle. I was simply floored by his statement. While I agree with this man of God in that we should and do love all people and care very much about their soul and where they may spend eternity, I cannot respect sin, which the Bible clearly states is what homosexuality is. As Christians we should support the ban on gay marriage for the sole reason that the Bible clearly states homosexuality is a sin. Leviticus 18:22 states, "You shall not lie with mankind as with womankind, it is an abomination to God." And Leviticus 20:13 states, "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination...". So many of us have become so fearful of the world and the threat of losing our non-profit status in our ministries, or being labeled a racist that we are fearful of speaking what the Bible says is clearly sin. This is not a matter of being racist, how can we be a racist is we love all people. It is not the people we are against it is sin we are against and it is not we as Christians who have determined that homosexuality is a sin, but God who made the determination. Yet we take the easy way out and say, "Oh I support the ban on gay marriage because the marriage union has always been defined as a union between a man and a woman". I truly do not believe God is pleased with that answer. I cannot imagine Christ giving that answer should He be posed with that question. Actually did God not for-see that question? He must have because He said in His Word that for 2 people of the same sex to lie together is an abomination before Him so He already gave His answer to that question. The Church has become so lethargic and so fearful of speaking what the Word of God says that we are losing ground in a spiritual battle between good and evil that has existed since the fall of Adam. We have lost the battle of abortion and the right to have God in our schools and soon if we are not careful He will be stripped from our government as well and this nation completely. Even now as we approach the Christmas season there is another attack to remove Christ from Christmas so others will not feel so left out of the Holiday. I don't know about you but I don't feel left out when other Holidays leave my God out their celebration. What will it take for the body of Christ to once again stand up and proclaim that we are not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ nor are we ashamed of His name? Arise oh Church of God before we lose what little we have left. For the battle rages on and we have work to be done many lost souls to be reached, but how will we reach them if we have been muzzled. |
