While we may walk on this earth as children and soldiers of God in a body of flesh we are in fact seated in a place of dominion and authority in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 2:6, “and has raised us up together and made us sit together in the heavenlies in Christ Jesus,”) Yet even as we are seated with Christ in heavenly places our authority and right to dominion in this earth is constantly being challenged by a spiritual enemy. An enemy whose sole purpose is to try and regain control of the dominion and authority that was stripped from him by Jesus through the works He wrought on the cross and in doing so to try and exalt himself not only above the knowledge of God but above the very throne of God as well. (Isaiah 14:13,14,“For you have said in your heart, I will go up to the heavens, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north. I will go up above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High.”)

The earth and all its fullness belonged to God. Adam was given dominion and authority over all the earth and its fullness. Yet having committed high treason against God, his Father, Adam turned that dominion and authority over to Satan himself. But it was through the last Adam, who is Jesus the Christ, the anointed one of God, that we were raised up to be seated with Him in the heavenlies and returned the full dominion and authority over this earth as God’s children. So we are now soldiers of the cross in this earth who fight a battle not against flesh and blood but against a spiritual enemy literally hell bent on regaining control. Yet while we are soldiers in fleshly form we are not given weapons of warfare that are man made but indeed we are given weapons of warfare that are mighty through God to the pulling down of these strongholds and every enemy that exalts itself against the knowledge and throne of God.

God has equipped us with weapons of warfare that are spiritual in nature to give us the power to defeat an enemy and a battle that is spiritual. Our God would not send us into to battle a spiritual enemy and expect us to pull him down in defeat with weapons that could not do the job. God has given to us the weapons to win and they are not carnal weapons of man made origin but spiritual weapons of warfare given to us by Christ and implemented through the power of the Holy Spirit.

The weapons of our warfare are tri-fold yet work together as one finely tuned weapon of unlimited, immeasurable power. The three weapons we have, the Word of God and our knowledge of it, Our faith in the Word of God and our speaking the Word of God, when combined create a force unequaled outside of God.

Jesus understood the weapons of warfare that involved the Word of God were indeed sharper than any two-edged sword and He knew of the power of these weapons and used them repeatedly against the enemy as is evidenced in Matthew 4:10 "Then Jesus said to him, Go, Satan! For it is written...”

Jesus knew the Word of God, He believed the Word of God, and He spoke the Word of God and when He did so Satan himself could not stand against Him.

The word tells us we are to come against and pull down (defeat) any and every person or thing that would try and exalt itself above The Most High God and His throne. But in order to do so we need to know what our spiritual weapons are. We need to know them inside and out and understand completely how to operate in them.
