As children we were often told that there was a Pot of Gold at the end of the rainbow. And those who were very young would often confuse what they heard with what they had actually seen or rather what they had actually “not” seen.
If we are told something enough, even as adults, we still begin to confuse what we have heard with what we have seen or actually “not” seen. As I discussed with my prayer partner how we have heard many say, “Revival has come and The Winds of Change are Blowing Across America” he lay that very statement at the door of my heart and asked me, “What have we actually seen"? I don’t think Marvin actually knew at the moment he uttered those words just how profound a statement it actually was. Yet it was his statement and subsequent question that has caused me to seek within the Spirit of God the truth that lay within his words.
What have we actually seen? As Marvin said, "Many are confusing the words they have heard with what they have actually seen". He went on to say, "While we do not take away from those who have received a healing in their bodies that cannot be seen with the natural eye nor felt by the touch of a hand, are we actually confusing those healings with what we have actually seen"? While the miracles of healing that cannot be seen with natural eye are every bit as real as those that are seen, which miracles actually grab the attention of the man off the street? The man who just walked in the doors of the Revival for the first time in his life and comes asking God, “Will You show me what you’ve got”. During the time Christ walked the face of this earth the miracles that were recorded most generally could be seen by those who had gathered around Christ and His disciples. When the Apostles speak of the healings that were given through the power of the Spirit of God that dwelled within them it was generally of healings that others could see and therefore not deny. Just as was the case of the lame man who was healed, through the anointing that flowed through Peter, at the gate that was called beautiful. This was a healing that simply could not be denied. This was a healing that caught the eyes of the very ones who crucified Christ. Acts 3:2-16
Act 3:2 And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple
which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; Act 3:3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. Act 3:4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. Act 3:5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. Act 3:6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. Act 3:7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. Act 3:8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. Act 3:9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God: Act 3:10 And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him. Act 3:11 And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon's, greatly wondering. Act 3:12 And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk? Act 3:13 The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go. Act 3:14 But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; Act 3:15 And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.
Act 3:16 And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith
which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
As we go out to listen to the man of God who comes forth telling us that revival has come and the winds of change are blowing across America we must remember to go with a heart that expects to “see” the hand of God move. A spirit that expects to “see” the anointing flow through the man of God. It has been said that “if we are in Church and we are not “seeing” signs, wonders and miracles we are not having church… it is just a meeting”.
As followers of Christ it is time to ask the man of God who comes saying “revival has come and the Winds of Change are Blowing Across America”, to show us what He’s got. If he is laying claim to the anointing of the Spirit of the Living God, That very Spirit who raised Christ from the dead, if the man of God has come saying the anointing is flowing through him then it is time to ask him to “show” us what he’s got. Not just the miracles that are not seen but those signs, wonders and miracles that are seen with the natural eye and therefore cannot be denied.
